Acura Receives ALG's 2013 Residual Value Award for Best Premium Brand for Long Term Value

2013 Acura RDX earns residual award for Premium Compact Utility Vehicle

Acura was named the Best Premium Brand for 2013 by ALG, which recognizes the entire Acura lineup for exceptional vehicle quality, strong brand desirability, and long-term reliability. The all-new 2013 Acura RDX performance-luxury SUV also ranked highest in the Premium Compact Utility Vehicle category. Since 2000, Acura has earned six model awards and three overall luxury brand awards from ALG.

As the leading provider of residual value information to the automotive industry, ALG's annual Residual Value Awards honor the vehicles in each industry segment that ALG predicts will retain the highest percentage of their original price after a three-year period.

Your Monday Maintenance Tip: Keeping your car in top condition during the break-in period

So, you’ve bought your dream car and now you want to make it last at long as possible in top condition. It's best during the break-in period, typically the first 1,000 miles, to keep your speed under 55 mph  or to the speed recommended by your car’s manufacturer. Use only light to medium acceleration, keeping the engine rpms below 3,000 for the first few hours of driving.

Your Monday Maintenance Tip: Winterizing Your Vehicle

When vehicles are not properly prepared for winter, driving can be more stressful and trecherous. Too many people take that chance every year.  By performing the following simple winterizing tasks, not only will you have a safe and sound winter on the road, but you'll save some money as well! Check the following areas:

• Clean, flush and put new antifreeze in the cooling system. 
• Make sure defrosters, heaters, and wipers, work properly.
• Have the battery and charging system checked. 
• Check tire tread depth and tire pressure. 
• Change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles and also, have the technician check other filters at the same time. 

Remember, winter magnifies existing problems!

Acura RLX Technology Preview

With the official debut of the 2014 Acura RLX just around the corner, Acura wants the public to get excited about two new technologies that will be available on their upcoming flagship sedan. Acura’s new Precision All Wheel Steer™(PAWS) and Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® systems will be showcased on the RLX to improve and enhance handling performance.

A handful of journalists from various automotive publications were recently at Honda’s testing grounds in Japan to sample both applications. The test car however was not an RLX, but a similarly sized Accord(Inspire) sedan equipped with the said technology.

Here’s Automobile Magazine‘s Jake Holmes on the Precision All Wheel Steer system:

“When you enter a corner and add steering input, there’s a miniscule pause before you feel the car tighten its line slightly as the rear wheels add more steering. It produces a sensation of rotation that gives the car a livelier feel than is typical of front-wheel-drive cars. At lower speeds, PAWS makes for easier maneuvering because of the reduced turning circle. PAWS also can correct under- or oversteer by adjusting the line of the rear wheels, which means sometimes PAWS can fix small slides without any need for the brake-based electronic stability control to activate.” - Jake Holmes, Automobile Magazine

Michael Austin of Car and Driver on Sport Hybrid SH-AWD:

“The rear motors also provide torque vectoring in corners, putting resistance on the inside wheel (which generates electricity for instantaneous use, lessening the draw on the 6.7-kWh battery) and driving the outside wheel to minimize understeer. Track performance is impressive, with instantaneous turn-in and grip that seems to transcend the abilities of the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tires. We didn’t have the chance to mess around too much, but there is no power oversteer. Jam on the gas and the car simply follows exactly where you point it with a neutral attitude.” - Michael Austin, Car and Driver

Both technologies sound impressive so far, hopefully adding a dynamic that will boost the RLX’s image as a “driver’s” car.

American Honda Reports October Sales: Double-Digit Accord Gains Fueled by All-New Model; Acura RDX Sets Record, Up 62 Percent2013 Honda Accord EX-L V-6 Sedan

Honda Division sales up 8.7 percent, Acura sales up 9.4 percent

American Honda today reported October 2012 U.S. sales of 106,973 units, an increase of 8.8 percent compared with October 2011. The Honda Division posted October 2012 sales of 94,810 units, an increase of 8.7 percent compared with October 2011. Acura U.S. October sales of 12,163 units increased 9.4 percent compared with October 2011.

Honda
- Accord leads all Honda vehicles in October with sales of 28,349 units, posting a 25-percent gain compared to the year prior, as production of all-new 2013 Accord has ramped up

- Civic gains 27 percent compared with October 2011 with sales of 20,687 units

- CR-V, Crosstour, Ridgeline and Fit all post October sales gains

"The strong momentum of Honda sales continues despite the end-of-month timing of Hurricane Sandy, but our chief concern right now is with those who have been impacted by this devastating natural disaster," said John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of Sales. "With sales of the all-new Accord building each month, we look forward to Honda's solid end-of-year finish."

Acura
- RDX sets its sixth-consecutive monthly sales record with 2,659 units, up 62 percent compared with October 2011 and is on track for an all-time annual sales mark

- MDX and RDX combine to set new October light-truck sales record of 6,476 units, up 18 percent from October 2011

"Acura's one-two punch of luxury performance SUVs is obviously resonating with consumers, with new October records set for both RDX and our truck lineup," said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura Sales. "With our sedan lineup growing stronger via the new ILX and the upcoming debut of the all-new Acura RLX, Acura continues to gain momentum."

The daily selling rate (DSR) is calculated with 26 days for October 2012 and 26 days for October 2011. Year-to-date, the DSR is calculated with 256 days for 2012 and 255 days for 2011. All other percentages in release are unadjusted; see table for adjusted DSR figures.

After the mirror was ordered I came out to the dealership to have it installed. Unfortunately, the replacement part did not fit and a new assembly had to be ordered. Tony apologized for the error and helped me with the cost of an entire mirror. My mother is 80 years old and lives on a fixed budget, so it was nice for me to get a break on the cost.
